Commenting policy

leave a comment »

I had been meaning to put this up for a while, but recently got a wave of traffic from the Elizabeth Warren story. The policy I want to keep for commenting on this blog is one I picked up from a previous news organization I worked for, which required full names to go with any comments. The idea is that this significantly reduces trolling and increases the civility and quality of any discussion.

If anyone has significant qualms about this and wants to persuade me to do otherwise (no comments, anonymous comments), let me know, but for now I’ll do it this way.

That said, while I’m pretty open to approving people’s comments, final discretion lies with me as the moderator. As long as you follow rule #1 (Don’t be an ass), it should be no problem.
